A hand-drawn illustration painted with vivid colors accompanies a boldly designed label for a craft beer called Lotus. The illustration was edited in Photoshop, with color layers added later on in the process. The Illustration depicts two boatmen rowing in a lotus field. The boat was designed to be simple and almost mechanical, contrasting with the details and natural forms of the lotus. The overall design fits the side of the bottle, providing a bold logotype and a detailed illustration that communicates authenticity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
Nice packaging! At first glance I thought this was a Hiroshi Yoshida print. I had a lithograph of his work entitled "Benten pond at Shiba" hanging in my office for many years which shared a lot of similarities with this design. If you like this packaging design you'd love Hiroshi Yoshida's stuff, he lies squarely between modern and old Japan.
